K-nuffcrete blocks for buildings with load-bearing masonry
Building with load-bearing masonry (concrete blocks, terracotta, cellular concrete...) is the traditional system. Load-bearing masonries are becoming more and more efficient thanks to the development of more efficient products and the use of glued masonry. Despite this, they still need to be doubled with additional insulation to achieve very high performance.
Doubling a masonry with K-nuffcrete blocks (ideally from the outside) makes it possible to create a global insulating envelope for the building by guaranteeing a real durability of the insulation over time: no settling or loss of performance after 10 or 20 years.
To implement this second envelope, all that is necessary is simply to provide for a sufficient projection beyond the foundation slab and roof to protect and start the K-nuffcrete blockwork.

K-nuffcrete blocks and wooden constructions are the perfect combination of a lightweight construction with an insulating block providing high thermal inertia.
The advantages of wooden constructions
Building a wooden house means guaranteeing a comfortable building and high energy efficiency. Some major advantages of a wooden construction:

The wooden structure offers a sustainable, resource-efficient and easy-to-build construction. Used for industrial, office or residential projects, the timber column-beam system makes it possible to build large buildings with reasonable budgets. Some projects combine concrete, wood and steel to benefit from the advantages of these different materials.
The association between the timber frame and the K-nuffcrete blocks occurs naturally by filling in the spaces between the columns using blockwork thus creating a complete, insulating and homogeneous envelope.

2)Timber framework construction
The timber framework is for construction of buildings with insulated, load-bearing walls. If these buildings generally benefit from a significant thermal efficiency, they generally have poor thermal inertia due to their lightness. Lining the wall on either the inside and/or the outside with K-nuffcrete blocks, overcomes this lack of inertia.
Positioning the hemp block on the inside, not only permits insulated lining, but also simplifies the positioning of the service ducts and decorative elements. Moreover, this masonry obviates the need for installation of a vapour barrier because its role is fulfilled by the interior render.
Exterior K-nuffcrete blocks are an excellent substrate for finishes and attachment of other elements (gutters, basketball hoop, light, etc.) while preventing overheating in the summer.
For an optimal result, an inner and outer lining is recommended.

1.Moisture regulation: When renovating, we recommend to use breathable materials that are resistant to condensation and do not release any volatile organic compounds. K-nuffcrete blocks sustain the existing building and regulate the moisture in the air on a continuous basis thanks to a breathable wall that is permeable for water vapour. The blocks are placed as a second lining to the interior wall and allows, among other things, to isolate old brick / stone walls or damp walls.
